So, I look at my newsfeed on Facebook and alas! Another viral video or content is being shared around the social media world like wildfire. It’s amazing how some viral content goes viral because it fascinates us one way or another — because it’s weird, unsolvable, or controversial, funny, hilarious, crazy, emotional– name it, as long as it has that interesting human component, it goes viral. For content marketers, however, viral content can still be worth pursuing. Working on viral content means you’re invested in content that’s mainly shareable — content that’s likely to get retweeted, liked, shared and commented on.
Carianne King of Social Media Today captures the process in a beautiful infographics that shows us how viral content is more likely to be useful, lengthy, and positivity-oriented. As she puts it, taken together, we have a picture of content that inspires people as well as makes them think (with a little help from great images and influencer shares).
